Is there a good 1.7x teleconverter for Canon EF, or should I use a 1.4x and crop with the EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II?

I'm planning to use a Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II for wildlife and birds. Canon offers 1.4x and 2x Mark III extenders, but not a 1.7x option, and I'd like something around 510mm equivalent reach.
Are there any high-quality 1.7x teleconverters for Canon EF mount that work well on this lens, especially in terms of sharpness across the frame? If not, would using Canon's 1.4x extender and cropping be the better approach?

The third generation Canon extenders perform very will with the 300 f/2.8L IS II, so much so that using the Canon 1.4x and cropping would likely produce as good an image as a third party 1.7x if one exists.
Cropping would give you the field of view and DOF of a 510mm f/4.75

Based on the community feedback, the best option is likely Canon’s own 1.4x Extender III rather than trying to find a third-party 1.7x.
The Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS II works extremely well with Canon’s third-generation extenders, and the 1.4x III is generally strong enough that cropping the image can give results as good as, or better than, a hypothetical third-party 1.7x converter.
Using the 1.4x gives you 420mm, and cropping can approximate the field of view of about 510mm. In practical terms, that can be a better tradeoff than adding a less-proven teleconverter, especially for image quality.
Also, a 1.7x converter on an f/2.8 lens would be about f/4.8 in light loss terms, which in practice is roughly between f/4.5 and f/5.
So if your priority is image quality and reliability, the safest recommendation from the answers is: use the Canon 1.4x III and crop when needed.
