On a Canon 5DS R, the magnify button lets you zoom into part of the live view on the LCD for checking focus. Is there an equivalent feature on the Fujifilm X-T20, and how do you use it?

Focus assist should be available when pressing the button on the rear command dial.

Focus Zoom If ON is selected for AF/MF SETTING > FOCUS CHECK, the camera will automatically zoom in on the selected focus area when the focus ring is rotated.

If STANDARD or FOCUS PEAK HIGHLIGHT is selected for AF/MF SETTING > MF ASSIST, zoom can be adjusted by rotating the rear command dial.

Yes. On the Fujifilm X-T20, the equivalent is the focus assist/focus check magnification feature.

You can press the rear command dial to activate focus assist. In manual focus modes, this lets you zoom into the selected focus area on the LCD/EVF for more precise focusing.

Useful related settings:

  • AF/MF Setting > Focus Check: if enabled, the camera will automatically zoom in on the selected focus area when you turn the focus ring.
  • AF/MF Setting > MF Assist: if set to Standard or Focus Peak Highlight, you can adjust the zoom level by rotating the rear command dial.

So while it may not be labeled exactly like Canon’s “magnify” button, the X-T20 does offer the same basic live-view magnification function for focus checking.
