How do I export only edited photos in Lightroom 3?

I imported a large shoot into Lightroom 3 and edited only some of the images. I want to export just the photos that have been edited, without manually Command/Ctrl-clicking each one. Is there a way to filter or collect only photos with Develop adjustments so I can export them all at once?

The easiest way to do this is using a smart collection. You can use the Has Adjustments filter to show just edited photos, or the Edit Date filter to choose photos edited within a specific time period.

I have a smart collection called "Edited this week" which is great for easily getting back to the photos I've recently worked on.

Yes. In Lightroom 3, the usual way is to use a Smart Collection or filter for photos that have been edited.

Create a Smart Collection with a rule such as:

  • Develop -> Has Adjustments

That will automatically gather only images with Develop changes, and you can then select that collection and export all of them at once.

If needed, you can also use an Edit Date rule to limit it to photos edited in a certain time period.

So the basic workflow is:

  1. Create a Smart Collection.
  2. Set it to match photos where Develop has adjustments.
  3. Open that Smart Collection.
  4. Export everything in it.

This is much faster than selecting edited files one by one, and it updates automatically as you make more edits.
