How do I enable Live Bulb/Live Time on the Olympus OM-D E-M5?

I’m trying to use the Olympus E-M5’s bulb function and want to see the exposure build up on the EVF/LCD during the shot. I can’t get it to work. What settings do I need to change, and is there anything that prevents Live Bulb or Live Time from working?

Setting up the Live Bulb and Live time:
- Menu > Custom Menu > E Menu > Live Bulb: 0.5sec
- Menu > Custom Menu > E Menu > Live Time: 0.5sec
Note: In order to use either function, you must put the camera in Manual Mode (M) and scroll the main dial until you see the option. Rotate shutter speed dial until way over 1 minute since those options are beyond that time threshold.

On the E-M5, the feature you want is Live Bulb or Live Time.
To use it:
- Set the camera to Manual (M) mode.
- In the menu, enable the refresh interval:
- Custom Menu > E > Live Bulb
- Custom Menu > E > Live Time Set one of them to a value like 0.5 sec.
