How can I stop GoPro Quik from recognizing an SD card previously used in a GoPro?

I used a microSD card in a GoPro Hero 5, then moved that card to another camera. Now whenever I connect the card to my computer, GoPro Quik detects it as a GoPro card and tries to import files, even though there are no GoPro clips left. I already have photos from my other camera on the card, so I don't want to format it right away. Is there a specific file or folder I can delete to stop Quik from treating the card as a GoPro device?

Import the existing photos from the card on computer and format the card on your new device. This is usual practice when you use old card on new device. BTW after each import also format the card, this can save you from some problems in the future (if only delete the images).
And my humble advice will be not to use MicroSD cards on camera which support SD cards.

The safest answer is: don’t try to fix this by deleting unknown files on the card.
Best practice is to copy everything off the card to your computer or other storage, then format the card in the device you plan to use it with. Reusing the same card across different cameras without formatting can cause folder/file conflicts, since camera files are usually stored in the root-level DCIM folder and different devices may structure that differently.
If your main problem is Quik auto-launching, disable that behavior instead:
- Open GoPro Quik
- Click the settings/cog icon
- Turn off “Automatically launch Quik when camera is connected”
That stops Quik from monitoring inserted cards and trying to import from them.
So the practical solution is:
- Back up the card contents
- Format the card in the current camera/device
- Disable Quik’s auto-launch if you don’t want it reacting to cards at all
There isn’t a reliable, universally safe single GoPro file to delete based on the information provided.
