How can I save the edited HDR Efex Pro image from Aperture on macOS High Sierra?

I'm still using Aperture with the Nik Collection on macOS High Sierra. Silver Efex works, but when I edit a photo in HDR Efex Pro and save it, Aperture brings back the original image instead of the HDR-edited version. Is there a workaround to save the edited file correctly?

Well, I found a work around, see https://www.flickr.com/groups/581278@N21/discuss/72157661264159120/
Uncheck “Automatically reimport.”, save elsewhere and import manually to the Aperture. It is annoying but it works.

A reported workaround is to disable Aperture's automatic re-import for the Nik edit. In HDR Efex Pro, uncheck or avoid the option to automatically reimport the file back into Aperture, save the processed image to a different location, then import that saved file into Aperture manually.
This is inconvenient, but it appears to prevent Aperture from replacing the edited HDR result with the original file. Since Aperture and older Nik plugins are legacy software on High Sierra, this kind of file handoff issue can happen.
