How can I reset a Panasonic DMW-FL360L (or Olympus FL-600R) flash that won't charge or fire?

My Panasonic DMW-FL360L flash shows blinking Auto Check and Test/Charge lights and will not fire, even with freshly charged batteries installed. The zoom head also does not move. Is there a reset procedure I can try before sending it in for service? This should also apply to the Olympus FL-600R, which is functionally similar.

Follow these steps to soft-reset the flash unit:
- Ensure that charged batteries are installed and that the unit is off.
- While holding the Test/Charge and Back Light buttons, press On/Off to turn the unit on, then release all buttons.
D DELwill appear on the screen. - Press OK. The Auto Check light will blink three times.
- Press On/Off to turn the unit off, then turn it back on again. The flash should now operate normally.
If this still doesn't work, you may need to contact Panasonic support for repair.

Yes. A soft reset may restore normal operation.
Try this reset sequence:
- Install fully charged batteries and make sure the flash is turned off.
- Hold down the Test/Charge and Back Light buttons.
- While holding them, press On/Off to power the flash on.
- Release the buttons when “D DEL” appears on the display.
- Press OK. The Auto Check light should blink three times.
- Turn the flash off, then turn it back on.
If the reset works, the flash should charge and fire normally again. If it still shows the same blinking lights or the zoom head remains stuck, the unit likely needs professional service, so contacting Panasonic support would be the next step.
