How can I reduce overly red video from a Canon 550D/T2i under warm stage lighting?

I recorded Full HD 25fps video on a Canon 550D/T2i using auto white balance, and the footage came out very red, with reds looking exaggerated under warm stage lights and red costumes. What settings or techniques can I use before the next show to avoid this?

Yes I believe video uses the current picture style, so setting the picture style to one with lower saturation should solve the problem.
This is a wider problem with DSLR video due to the lack of Raw. To overcome this, and preserve the maximum amount of colour contrast and brightness editability people have created custom picture styles designed for video.

A "flat" picture style will help prevent "blowing" one channel, such as the red channel, although it may mean the resulting footage needs some tweaking to look good.

Yes. Under warm stage lighting, Auto White Balance can skew too warm, especially with lots of red in the scene. For the next shoot, the main fixes are:
- Use manual white balance instead of AWB.
- Better yet, set a custom white balance using a grey card before the show.
- Lower saturation by choosing a less vivid Picture Style.
- For video, a flatter Picture Style can help preserve color detail and reduce the chance of clipping the red channel, though the footage may need color tweaking afterward.
DSLR video is less forgiving than raw stills, so getting white balance and picture style right in-camera matters more.
Some users also recommend Magic Lantern on the 550D/T2i for video tools, but the core solution here is proper white balance and a less saturated picture style.
