How can I mount a flash trigger and speedlight on a tripod?

I want to reuse an old tripod as a support for an off-camera flash. My setup is a Nikon speedlight on a Yongnuo radio trigger, and I need an adapter that lets me attach the trigger to the tripod, then mount the flash on top.
What adapter or bracket should I look for? Ideally it would attach to a standard tripod screw and hold the trigger/flash securely, with the option to angle the light if possible.

You'll want a 1/4-20 thread if the tripod doesn't have one, then add a coldshoe, as Michael Clark wrote. For the coldshoe selection, I really like the enlight photo frio. It's not particularly cheap ($10-13) for a little piece of plastic, but it will positively lock the flash in place and since it's made of plastic I can toss it in the camera bag without worry about scratching other things.

Yes. What you want is typically a cold shoe mount or, better yet, an umbrella swivel/bracket with a stud.
Most tripods use a standard 1/4"-20 screw (some accessories also use 3/8"-16). If your tripod already has a 1/4"-20 mounting point, you can attach:
- a cold shoe adapter with a 1/4" female socket, then slide your Yongnuo trigger into the cold shoe and mount the flash on the trigger, or
- an umbrella swivel plus stud, which is often more useful because it lets you tilt the flash and may also accept an umbrella.
A cold shoe is the simplest solution. An umbrella swivel is more flexible for lighting because it gives you angle adjustment and modifier support.
If shopping, look for terms like “cold shoe tripod adapter,” “1/4-20 cold shoe mount,” or “umbrella swivel bracket.”
One note: a tripod can work, but a light stand is usually more practical for flash placement because it can often position the light higher and more conveniently.
