How can I identify which JOBY GorillaPod model I have?

I bought a JOBY GorillaPod with my Canon EOS 7D, but I’m not sure which model it is. The tripod only has the JOBY logo on it, and I’d like to identify the exact version from its physical features. What should I look for on the tripod itself to tell the different GorillaPod models apart?

Look at the Joby website. They are all different!
Pay attention to the color of the joints and if yours has a joint above where the legs join or not. If there is a built-in head, look at it and compare as they are three distinct ones. It is not easy to see but the focus joints has rings which are metallic instead of grey.
The specs are available there too. If you want to really be sure, then you can weigh it.

Compare your tripod to the model photos and specifications on JOBY’s website. The GorillaPod versions are visually distinct, so you can usually identify yours by checking:
- the color of the leg joints
- whether there is a joint above the point where the legs meet
- whether it has a built-in head, and which head style it uses
- metallic-looking rings on the joints, which can distinguish some Focus models from grey-jointed versions
If you still aren’t sure, weigh the tripod and match that against the published specs. Since your EOS 7D feels too heavy for it, also compare the tripod’s rated load capacity to your camera and lens setup.
