After making edits in darktable and returning to Lighttable, I want to know which images already have processing settings applied. Is there an icon or filter that marks edited images so I can quickly find them again?

Changed photos have a tag darktable|changed applied to them, which you can use for filtering in the collect images module. This feature has been introduced in darktable 0.9.
Also you see a icon on the top right of each picture in the lighttable:

Yes. In darktable, edited images are marked in two useful ways.
- Edited photos get the tag
darktable|changed(introduced in darktable 0.9). - In Lighttable, there is also an icon shown at the top-right of the thumbnail for changed images.
To find all edited photos, use the collect images module and filter by the darktable|changed tag. You can also combine that with other filters, such as date or ISO, to narrow the results further.
So if you’re looking for a clear indicator: check the top-right thumbnail icon, and for searching or organizing, filter on the darktable|changed tag.
