How can I control a Canon 580EX II in manual mode through Yongnuo YN-622C II triggers?

I’m using Yongnuo YN-622C II triggers with a Canon 580EX II and want to set flash power from the camera’s Speedlite settings menu while shooting off-camera. With an older set of triggers this worked, but with a replacement set the camera keeps reverting to E-TTL when the triggers are connected.
I can change the 580EX II to manual mode when it is mounted directly on the camera, but once I use the YN-622C II units, the camera menu won’t stay in manual mode. Also, if I change master/slave settings on the flash itself, those settings disappear after a half-press and the flash returns to E-TTL.
What settings need to be reset or configured on the flash and/or triggers so the camera can control the flash in manual mode through the YN-622C II system?

Make sure both the 580EX II and the YN-622C II units are in neutral/default states so they don’t override the camera menu.
If the flash or trigger has a setting applied locally, that setting can take priority and force behavior you don’t want.
Check these points:
- Flash and trigger should not have any manual power value pre-set unless you want that to override the camera.
- In E-TTL, FEC/FEB should be 0.
- In manual mode, use the default/full setting rather than a preselected lower power if you want camera-menu control.
- Flash zoom should be set to Auto.
- Reset the flash and triggers to defaults if needed, then reconnect and set the mode from the camera menu.
Also, if you set master/slave or other options on the flash body itself, those can be cleared or overridden once the trigger-camera communication takes over. So the safest approach is to reset everything, leave the flash in a neutral state, and do the mode/power setup from the camera menu.

Confirm that the flash is set to "neutral" default settings. If it isn't, whatever setting you've set on the flash's control panel will override the trigger. Ditto for the trigger. If it's set to anything other than "neutral" default settings, it will override whatever you enter using the camera's menu.
In E-TTL mode the flash and trigger should be set to "0" FEC/FEB. Any other value, such as +1 or -1/3 FEC, and the flash or trigger will override the camera.
In manual power mode it should be set to 1/1. Any other setting, such as 1/2 or 1/4, and the flash/trigger will override the camera.
Flash zoom head should be set to "Auto". Any other value...
