I already own the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D and know it does not have a seal at the mount. Does the AF-S 50mm f/1.8G include a rubber gasket/seal, and would that offer better protection against moisture or snow when shooting outdoors?

Yes. The Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.8G does have a rubber gasket at the lens mount, unlike the older 50mm f/1.8D. That gasket can help reduce the chance of moisture or dust entering at the mount, so it offers some extra protection in light snow or damp conditions.
However, a rubber mount seal alone does not make the lens fully weather-sealed or waterproof. For snowboarding or other wet environments, it’s still best to avoid prolonged exposure to moisture and wipe gear down promptly.
