Does darktable have preset profiles or styles for giving RAW files more punch?

I'm new to darktable and coming from RawTherapee. In RawTherapee I liked the included profiles/presets because my EOS 20D RAW files look flat straight out of camera, and a default profile gave them a quick boost in contrast and saturation as a starting point. Does darktable include anything similar, or is there a way to apply a pre-made look so I don't have to edit every image from scratch?

There aren't any built in that I'm aware of, but you can just define your own (in Darktable it would be a "style"). I have a base style I start with that adjusts the base curve, increases the saturation slightly, applies profiled denoising (a newer feature which is fantastic), lens correction, etc.

A quick Googling for "Darktable styles" brought up the Darktable Wiki page for sharing styles: http://darktable.org/redmine/projects/darktable/wiki/DarktableStyles

The Darktable User Manual section on styles: http://www.darktable.org/usermanual/ch02s03s08.html.php

And from the Darktable Resources page (http://www.darktable.org/resources/):

To create a new darktable style just alter your image the way you want. Then click the button located in the history module in darkroom mode to create a style from the current history stack. In advanced options you can include or exclude single modules. To export or import a new style use the styles module in lighttable mode.

Additionally, when you look at the "Base Curve" Module there are a bunch of presets for different manufacturer "biases" (Pentax-Like, Panasonic-like, etc) which will help you get closer to what you want quickly.

Darktable doesn’t appear to include built-in punchy RAW profiles in the same way RawTherapee does. The usual approach is to create or import a style.

A style in darktable is a saved set of edits you can apply instantly to other images. For example, you can make a base style that tweaks things like base curve, a little saturation, denoising, and lens correction, then apply it whenever you want a quick starting point.

To create one, edit an image the way you like, then save those edits as a style from the history module in darkroom mode. You can also look for shared darktable styles online and import them.

So the short answer is: not really built-in presets like RawTherapee, but yes—darktable supports reusable styles that serve the same purpose.
