Canon EOS Rebel T2i pop-up flash won’t open

On my Canon EOS Rebel T2i, the built-in flash will not pop up. The camera is usually in Manual mode, and pressing the flash button does nothing. Is there a simple fix or common cause for this?

It may be due to the latch not releasing properly. Try lifting the cover of the flash while pressing the flash button.

A likely cause is that the pop-up flash latch is sticking and not releasing properly. Try gently lifting the flash cover while pressing the flash button. If it opens that way, the release mechanism may be catching rather than an exposure-mode issue.
