Can Lightroom import from multiple memory cards at the same time?

I often shoot with more than one camera body or use several memory cards during a session. If I connect multiple card readers, can Lightroom import from more than one source in a single import session, or do I have to run separate imports for each card?

Yes, this can be done. If you ignore the 'Devices' part of the Lightroom import dialog and instead look at the 'Files' part, ensuring you have 'Include subfolders' checked, you can cmd+click (Mac) or ctrl+click (Win) to select more than one source to import from.
There is a video showing how this is achieved at this page on Petapixel. This works in Lightroom 3 and 4.

Yes—Lightroom can do this if you select sources from the Files section of the Import dialog rather than the Devices section. With Include Subfolders enabled, you can Ctrl-click (Windows) or Cmd-click (Mac) to choose multiple source folders/cards and import them in one session.
A practical alternative workflow is to first copy each card to your hard drive—especially if you’re using a multi-card reader—then import the parent folder into Lightroom once all copies are finished. Many photographers prefer this because it can be faster and gives you more control over folder organization before import.
