Can Lightroom CC work without an internet connection?

If I subscribe to Lightroom through Adobe Creative Cloud, do I need to be online every time I launch or use it? I’m mainly concerned about DRM-style license checks when I’m traveling or otherwise offline for an extended period. Will Lightroom continue to run locally without internet access, and if so, are there any limits?

Adobe Creative Cloud requires an Internet connection to install the apps and to periodically verify the licensing, but not constantly. You can use the applications offline for a period of time.

No, the desktop applications in Creative Cloud, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, are installed directly on your computer, so you don't need an ongoing Internet connection to use them. An Internet connection is required the first time you install and license your apps, but you can use the apps in offline mode with a valid software license. The desktop apps will attempt to validate your software licenses every 30 days. For annual members, you can use the apps for up to 99 days in offline mode. Month-to-month members can use the software for up to 30 days in offline mode.

Yes—Lightroom’s desktop app does not require a constant internet connection to run. It installs on your computer and can be used offline, but Adobe requires internet access for the initial install/licensing and for periodic license validation afterward. According to Adobe’s Creative Cloud policy cited in the answers, the apps attempt to validate your license about every 30 days. So if you’re offline temporarily, Lightroom should still work; it just isn’t designed to stay offline indefinitely without eventually checking your subscription status. Also note that older perpetual-license Lightroom versions existed, but they did not include the same cloud/mobile features as the subscription-based Creative Cloud version.
