I’m experimenting with macro by reversing a lens (for example, a 24–85mm on its own, or a reversed 28mm mounted in front of a 70–200mm). I’d like to improve the results in post-processing without buying a dedicated macro lens.

Chromatic aberration seems straightforward to correct, but distortion is confusing. Can a normal lens profile be used effectively for a reversed lens setup, or is the “distortion” I’m seeing likely something else? How can I test whether a reversed lens is actually introducing optical distortion?
