I have a Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 with a pack of film already loaded. If I remove the battery, will it ruin or waste the film, or can I put the battery back in later and keep using the same film pack?

Taking the battery out of the camera should not affect the film as long as you do not open the film compartment.
ONLY open the battery compartment door.

Yes — removing the battery should not waste the film, as long as you do not open the film compartment. Only open the battery door. The film pack stays usable inside the camera; the important thing is to avoid exposing the film by opening the back of the camera.
