Can double-exposed 35mm film photos be corrected after development?

I have some developed color photos from 35mm film that turned out double exposed, likely because I accidentally shot a second set of images on the same roll. Is there any way to correct or recover the original photos after the film has already been developed?

No, you can not correct double exposure.

Film exposure is one way street - you can not reverse the process, just like you can not reverse the changes in the silver ion that has been struck by light (or turn omelette back into eggs).

No. Once 35mm film has been exposed and developed, a double exposure cannot be undone to recover the separate original images. Film records light cumulatively, so both scenes are combined on the same frame, and the chemical change in the emulsion is not reversible after development. You may be able to make the scans or prints look a little better with editing, but you cannot fully separate the two exposures or restore the lost originals.
