Can Capture One Pro create a strong background blur like shallow depth of field?

I'm using Capture One Pro 8.x and want to strongly blur only the background so it looks more like true out-of-focus blur from shallow depth of field. I've tried an adjustment layer with negative Clarity, Structure, and Sharpness, but the effect isn't strong enough. Is there a way to do this directly in Capture One, or do I need another tool?

you can do a similar effect with Brush tool and reducing the Clarity in this layer.

Capture One can only soften or de-emphasize existing detail; it doesn’t provide true synthetic lens blur/depth-of-field simulation. Using a local adjustment layer with reduced Clarity/Structure/Sharpness can give a mild effect, and some users also try a smart brush with negative Dehaze on a fairly uniform background, but these are limited and won’t convincingly mimic real out-of-focus blur.
For a strong, believable shallow-depth-of-field look, you’ll generally need to round-trip the image to an external editor or plugin that offers lens blur/bokeh tools.
