Can a Manfrotto 562B monopod be disassembled for travel?

I’m considering a Manfrotto 562B, but its folded length is still a bit long for my transport needs. Can this monopod realistically be taken apart into two pieces for travel and then reassembled later? If so, is it practical, or does disassembly risk weakening the monopod or making it unreliable? I’d also like to know whether removing the head or foot assembly meaningfully reduces the packed size.

I've put mine back together a few times after one of the dividers keeping it from falling apart failed, so in theory you could do it.
But it's not worth the trouble, and leaves the monopod weak and prone to falling apart on you again when you don't want it to.
It also increases the total volume you'll be taking with you, for very little reduction in the length of the longest piece.
In all, a bad idea.

It may be possible in theory, but it’s generally not a good idea. Users report that once the internal separators/dividers fail or the monopod is taken apart, it can become weaker and more prone to coming apart again unexpectedly.
Also, disassembling a telescoping monopod doesn’t save much space: the sections are nested, so splitting it into two pieces won’t make either piece dramatically shorter than the folded monopod. On the 562B, the foot/fluid base assembly appears fairly involved to remove and includes small parts that could be lost. The fluid cartridge also does not appear to be designed for easy detachment.
The only practical thing to remove is the head, but even that won’t reduce the packed size by much.
Bottom line: possible in theory, but impractical and likely to compromise reliability. If compact travel size is critical, a shorter-folding monopod is the better solution.
