Can a Canon EOS 1100D be woken or reconnected from standby over tethered USB?

I’m controlling a Canon EOS 1100D from a C# program using Canon’s EOS Utility/DLL tethering functions. I need to take one photo every 30 minutes throughout the day.
If I let the camera go into standby between shots, it disconnects from the computer and I have to press a button on the camera to power it back on. Is there any way to wake the camera or reconnect it programmatically over USB, or does it need to remain powered on for tethered shooting?

No, if it isn't detected as being attached, then there wouldn't be any way to communicate with it since it is effectively not plugged in.

No. If the camera has gone into standby in a way that disconnects it from the computer, your software can’t wake or reconnect it over USB because the computer no longer sees it as an attached device.
In practice, that means you’ll need to keep the camera awake/powered on for tethered shooting, or physically wake it on the camera itself before your program can communicate with it again.
