Are aftermarket NP-95 batteries safe to use in a Fujifilm X100?

I need a spare NP-95 battery for my Fujifilm FinePix X100, but genuine Fuji batteries are hard to find. Aftermarket batteries are much more available, but I’m cautious about using a third-party battery in this camera. Has anyone used a compatible NP-95 battery successfully in the X100, or found a reliable source for genuine Fuji batteries?

I've written an article about this very thing, http://www.x100enthusiasts.com/discussion/80/batteries-chargers-power-management-finepix-x100-user-guide

I've been using a MaxPower brand generic for 5 weeks now without issue. Other users have reported similar experiences in the comments.

Based on the community feedback provided, a MaxPower-branded NP-95 replacement has been used in the Fujifilm X100 for several weeks without issues, and other users reportedly had similar results. That suggests some third-party NP-95 batteries can work fine in the X100.

That said, no battery brand can realistically guarantee zero risk or “no damage” to a camera. If you choose an aftermarket battery, the safest approach is to buy from a reputable seller, make sure it is specifically rated as an NP-95 replacement, and monitor it for overheating, swelling, or poor fit.

If you want the lowest-risk option, a genuine Fuji NP-95 is still the safest choice when available. But from the answers here, MaxPower is at least one third-party brand with positive X100 user experience.
