Aperture flag icon disappeared — how do I show it again?

In Apple Aperture, I used the flag feature to mark favorite photos, but the flag indicator is no longer visible. I may have accidentally changed a setting. How can I restore the flag display, and is there a shortcut that might have turned it off?

Question - when you say "it's no longer there", what are you looking for that you're not seeing? If you select a picture and hit "/", you don't get a flag in the upper-right corner? If that's the case, go to View > Metadata Display, and make sure that both Viewer and Browser have the "show metadata" option selected. It looks to me like it might be really easy to hit "y" which turns that on & off in the viewer, and that might be your problem.

If flagging still works but you no longer see the flag icon, the metadata overlay is likely hidden.
Try this:
- Select a photo and press
/to add or remove a flag. - If the flag doesn’t appear in the upper-right corner, go to View > Metadata Display.
- Make sure Viewer and Browser are both set to Show Metadata.
A common cause is accidentally pressing Y, which toggles metadata display on and off in the viewer. Re-enabling metadata should make the flag visible again.
