Condition: Good
The Minolta SRT 201 Film SLR Camera is an upgrade from its predecessors as it comes with a hot shoe mount and a memo holder. This camera has a Rokinon 28mm f/2.8 lens provided with it. You can use other Minolta MD lenses with this camera. The camera uses the TTL CLC meter that couples with shutter and film speed. The camera has a mechanical focal-plane shutter with a maximum speed limit of 1/1000th of a second. A Mat-Fresnel-field focusing screen is integrated into the camera design, which has a split-image spot circled by a microprism band. Other features in the camera include self-timer, mirror lockup, and depth-of-field preview button.
Focus and Optics
The Rokinon 28mm f/2.8 lens is ideal to shoot landscape shots. This included wide-angle lens uses 5 elements in 5 groups. It provides an angle of view of 74°. You can manually focus the lens down to a minimum distance of 1 foot. The Minolta SRT 201 has the CLS metering that adjusts excess exposure by reducing the extra brightness in the scene. Also, two CdS cells on the pentaprism finder ensure a working range of EV3 to EV17 at ASA 100. The camera offers a maximum ISO of 6400. You can speed up the shutter up to 1/1000th of a second for capturing shots of moving objects.
Sensor and Screen
The camera comes with a fixed eye-level pentaprism viewfinder that provides a 94% screen coverage. A Mat-Fresnel-field focusing screen is integrated into the finder, which has a split-image spot that is circled by a microprism band. Additionally, camera-related information can be seen in the viewfinder such as current exposure, shutter speed, aperture number, and battery check. Thanks to the large return-type mirror, image cutoffs are avoided, and accurate exposure readings are provided by the camera.
Image and Video
The camera takes pictures on the 35mm film. To advance the film, rotate the quick advance winding lever 150°. The camera comes with a resetting counter that denotes the number of exposed frames. The camera has shutter locks and a double exposure blocking function.
Other Features
The camera has a hot shoe for mounting an external flash. You can synchronize an electronic flash up to 1/60th of a second and a flashbulb at all shutter speeds. A PC terminal is also provided to connect wired flash units. The self-timer function can be used set the shutter release delay up to 10 seconds. This camera reduces motion blur caused due to the vibrations while exposure metering by using the mirror lock mechanism. The 1.35v button shaped mercury battery powers the exposure metering of the camera. You can check out whether the battery is functional or not by pressing the battery check button.
