Overview

Olympus introduces the OM-D E-M1 Mark II in the all-new silver form to celebrate its 100th anniversary. This mirrorless camera takes forward the partnership with Micro Four Thirds lenses from its predecessors. The 20.4 MP Live MOS sensor and TruePic VIII dual quad-core image processor work in conjunction to produce high-resolution images and videos with minimal noise. With the camera, you can shoot videos in stunning 4K resolution. The continuous shooting modes come into use when capturing photos of fast-moving objects or athletes. Enable the Pro-Capture mode to shoot images with reduced lag. The 3-inch vari-angle LCD and 2.36m-dot electronic viewfinder facilitate live image composition. Other features such as the 5-axis image stabilization contribute to handheld shooting. The dual memory card slots allow you to extend the shooting time.

Optics and Focus

The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II mirrorless camera is compatible with Micro Four Thirds lenses. In the camera, you can take advantage of the 121-Point Dual FAST AF system. It includes cross-type on-chip phase detection areas for accurate acquisition of the focus when shooting in a cluttered scenery. The in-body AF limiter and AF targeting pad let you achieve accuracy when photographing small objects with a telephoto lens. You can record smooth videos and blur-free photos by switching on the in-body 5-axis image stabilization.

It offers television and film standard frame rates of 30, 25, and 24 fps in the UHD mode. If you have selected the Full HD option, the frame rate can be increased up to 60 fps for creating slow-motion effects in post. Equipped with the TruePic VIII dual quad-core image processor, the camera ensures fine grain detail and enhanced low light performance. It also supports the continuous shooting mode, in which you can take burst photos at 15 fps with the mechanical shutter and at 60 fps with the electronic shutter.

Other Features

The dual SD slots save your time by allowing to use two memory cards in the camera. It comes in handy when setting up the camera for longer shoots of an event or recording time-lapses. The camera is paired with an FL-LM electronic flash that has a guide number of 9.1 m at ISO 100. You can bounce the flash up and down from 45° to 90°. The Olympus wireless RC flash system is used for remote triggering of linked strobes. The OM-D E-M1 Mark II has a dustproof and splashproof body that resists environmental elements. Moreover, the camera can function in freezing temperatures down to 14°F.
