The Canon EOS M3 Digital Camera comes in a compact size with Full HD recording abilities and a responsive focusing system. This digital camera has an F-M 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6 IS STM lens provided with it. The 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 6 image processor work together to offer high-quality images and videos even in low light. With the hybrid CMOS AF III system, the camera offers accuracy while focusing in both video and photo mode. You can extend the maximum native ISO of 12800 to 25600 for shooting in varied light conditions. The shutter speed can reach up to 1/4000th of a second for clicking detailed shots of moving objects. This camera comes with a built-in flash having a guide number of 16.4 feet at ISO 100. The Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC allows you to transfer images to smartphones.

Optics and Focus

The EF-M 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6 IS STM Lens provided with the camera offers a 35mm equivalent focal range of 29–88 mm. This lens includes 13 optical elements arranged in 11 groups. The three aspherical elements in the lens ensure image sharpness by reducing spherical distortion throughout the zoom range. With the optical image stabilizer, the lens reduces camera shakes by 4 stops. This digital camera uses the hybrid CMOS AF III system that employs both contrast and phase detection techniques to provide precision and quick response. The camera has a mechanical shutter to capture photos of fast-moving objects without any distortion and an electronic shutter to ensure a silent function.

Sensor and Screen

The Canon EOS M3 takes 24.0 MP images with an APS-C size CMOS sensor that offers high color fidelity and accuracy. You can compose the scene or playback captured images and videos with the rear 3.0-inch Clear View II touchscreen LCD. The LCD offers a 1040k-dot resolution live view of the scene. A smudge-resistant coating is given to the LCD for resisting fingerprints. You can also tilt the LCD 180° upwards and 45° downwards.

Image and Video

The camera can take pictures in both JPEG and RAW format with a maximum resolution of 6000×4000 dpi. By switching to the movie mode, the camera can record 1080p videos with a maximum frame rate of 30 fps. With the continuous shooting mode, the camera can capture up to 1000 JPEG or 5 RAW frames at 4.2 fps. The DIGIC 6 image processor boosts the camera's low-light performance and also contributes to the AF function. With the multi-shot noise reduction, the camera retains the image detail when shooting in low light with a high ISO.

Other Features

You can send captured images to your smartphones via built-in WiFi with NFC. The integrated flash offers a 16.4 feet guide number at ISO 100. An external flash can be mounted to the camera's hot shoe. The attached flash unit can be synchronized with the shutter at 1/200th of a second. With the self-timer, you can set the shutter release delay at 2 or 10 seconds. Preview the camera settings in real time and share them with other photographers via creative assist mode.
