Overview
The Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM Lens, from Canon's "L Series" of lenses, is designed to provide high-resolution images throughout its zoom range, & is specially made for full-frame Canon EF-Mount camera. Though the 70-200mm f/4L IS USM Lens is designed for full-frame Canon E-Mount DSLRs, it can also be used with APS-C models, where it provides a 112-320mm equivalent focal length range.
The leans features a constant f/4 maximim aperture, which provides consistent performance throughout the zoom range, & features one fluorite element, as well as two ultra-low dispersion glass elements, to reduce color fringing & chromatic aberrations, while providing a higher level of clarity & color fidelity. A Super Spectra Coating has also been applied to individual lens elements in order to minimize ghosting & flaring, while also providing greater contrast & color neutrality while working in stronger lighting conditions.
An Optical Image Stabilizer is featured, to minimize the appearance of camera shake during handheld shooting, by up to five shutter-speed stops, which enables the ability to work in low-light settings, with slower shutter speeds. Three dedicated stabilization modes are featured (Standard, During Exposure Only, & Panning), in order to suit a variety of lighting conditions, & can be selectively employed.
A Ring-Type Ultrasonic Motor (USM), as well as an internal focusing system, provides a fast, quiet, & precise autofocusing performance, as well as full-time manual focus override. A focus-limiter switch allows you to constrain the focusing to two different ranges, allowing you to suit different applications. The featured 9-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing "bokeh" quality, which can be produced through the use of selective focusing techniques. This lens is also compatible with the separately available, optional EF 1.4x & EF 2x teleconverters, which can be viewed by clicking HERE.
