Condition: Excellent

Rejoice the uniqueness of film photography with the Nikon F5 35mm Film SLR. This camera accepts Nikon AF-D, AF-I, and AF-S lenses. The camera uses a 1005-pixel RGB sensor for the exposure metering and provides 3D matrix, center-weighted, and spot metering methods. Its 5-point AF system, which includes three crosshair sensors, is based on TTL phase detection. The top LCD shows different camera settings such as aperture, shutter speed, exposure mode, and more. With the standard DP-30 viewfinder, you get 100% screen coverage while composing the scene. The automatic film advance lets you take continuous shots at up to 8 fps. You can attach an electronic flash to the hot shoe or a flashbulb to the sync terminal. The camera runs on eight 1.5-Volt AA or lithium batteries.

Optics and Focus

The camera works with Nikon AF-D, AF-I, and AF-S lenses. You can set the exposure metering pattern to 3D matrix, center-weighted, or spot. The exposure compensation can be adjusted within ±5 EV in 1/3rd EV steps. When you insert DX-coded film rolls, the camera sets the ISO level between 25 and 5000. For non-DX films, the camera offers a manual ISO range of 6–6400. The 5-point AF system with 3 crosshair sensors utilizes the Nikon Multi-CAM1300 AF module. You can select the Single Servo AF and Continuous Servo AF function when taking shots of stationary and moving objects respectively. The focus tracking function automatically activates when the subjects in frame move. You can take crisp photographs of moving objects with the highest shutter speed of 1/8000th of a second.

Sensor and Screen

The Nikon F5 comes with a standard DP-30 viewfinder that provides 100% frame coverage. It offers 0.7× magnification with a 50mm lens set at infinity. The DP-30 has a metering system selector, diopter adjustment knob, an accessory shoe, and eyepiece shutter lever. You can view different camera information like aperture, shutter speed, exposure value, exposure compensation marks, and more in the viewfinder. Similar information along with new additions such as flexible program mark and frame counter is displayed on the top illuminated LCD panel.

Image and Video

The camera takes exposures on 35mm film rolls. This Nikon SLR automatically advances the film to the first frame when you insert the roll. The camera has a single frame advance mode for regular picture taking and a continuous mode that captures up to 8 exposures per second. Press the multi-exposure button to shoot more than two exposures on a single frame. You can choose the automatic or manual rewind options after the rolls is used-up.

Other Features

The Nikon F5's DP-30 Finder has a hot shoe that attaches electronic flash units and synchronizes them with the shutter speed at 1/250th of a second or below. Also, the PC terminal allows you connect an off-camera flashbulb. Check whether the depth of field is correct or not by pressing the dedicated DOF preview button. With the self-timer, you can delay the shutter release by 10 seconds. The camera back is interchangeable with the Nikon Multi-Control Back MF-28 or Data Back MF-27. Use eight 1.5-Volt AA or lithium batteries to power-up the camera.
