Overview
With its impressive performance, stability, and versatility, the Sony Alpha a6500 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body is an ingenious gadget for amateur photographers. It is equipped with a 24.2 MP APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor that teams up with the BIONZ X image processor to enjoy smooth, nuanced image quality with less noise and high sensitivity. Use the 5-Axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization technology for eliminating up to 5 different types of camera shake encountered while performing hand-held shooting of images and videos. The sophisticated 4D FOCUS system incorporates 425 on-chip phase detection points and 169 contrast-detection areas for focusing precisely within just 0.05 seconds. The integrated WiFi and NFC connectivity facilities let you share your captured content with similarly compatible devices.
Optics and Focus
The Alpha a6500 from Sony is compatible with a wide range of E-mount lenses that offer outstanding apertures and focal lengths. The ISO sensitivity ranges between 100 and 51,200, while the shutter speed ranges from 30 seconds to 1/4000th of a second. The 5-Axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization technology enables the camera to eliminate up to 5 different types of camera shake that are commonly encountered while shooting hand-held. The metering methods, as well as the White Balance and Exposure modes, are essential for various photography tasks. The revolutionary 4D FOCUS system incorporates up to 425 on-chip phase detection points and 169 contrast-detection areas so that you can focus precisely within as quick as 0.05 seconds.
Sensor and Screen
The Sony Alpha a6500 features a 24.2 MP APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor that lets you take high-quality pictures and videos with minimal noise and immense sensitivity. Use the XGA Tru-Finder 2.36 m-dot OLED EVF for viewing your subjects even under the bright sunlight, where it becomes difficult to use the LCD screen. The 3.0-inch tiltable LCD touchscreen, which comes with a 921.6 k-dot resolution, can be tilted 45° downward or 90° upward for conveniently working in both low and high angles.
Image and Video
The Alpha a6500 shoots not only RAW and JPEG images at a resolution of up to 6000 x 4000 pixels but also 4K UHD videos at a resolution of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels in the XAVC S format at 30 fps. The BIONZ X image processor can process videos and images with a blend of speed and quality. Shoot up to 107 RAW frames and 301 JPEG frames at a maximum burst rate of 11 fps. The Auto HDR automatically captures 3 sequential frames of an image and composites them into an individual frame to get detailed shadows and highlights with an extended range of mid-tones.
Other Features
The inbuilt WiFi facility allows you to share your captured images and videos on cloud-sharing and social networking sites, as well as WiFi-enabled devices. The NFC function facilitates a one-touch connection between the camera and most similarly-compatible devices without the need for a complicated setup. Use the Bluetooth connectivity for acquiring location data in a hassle-free manner. For an intuitive operating experience, this camera features 9 customizable buttons that can be set to control over more than 64 functions. Powering this camera is a 1080 mAh NP-FW50 rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery pack.
