Megapixels:
A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Overview

The Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS200 Digital Camera is a pocket-sized powerhouse that is capable of UHD 4K video recording and 30 fps burst photo capture. This digital camera has a Leica DC Vario-Elmar 15× lens integrated into its design. The 20.1 MP high-sensitivity MOS sensor and Venus engine image processor work as a team to deliver high-definition imagery. The 3.0-inch 1240K-dot touchscreen LCD and Live View Finder are provided for composing the shot. You can process RAW format picture in-camera to streamline your image editing workflow. The built-in flash has an effective range of 0.6–6.8 m on wide lens setting and 1–3.9 m on telephoto settings. This camera can take 370 shots per charge with the rear LCD and 350 images with the electronic viewfinder when its eco30fps setting is enabled.

Optics and Focus

The integrated Leica DC Vario-Elmar 15× lens has a focal length of 8.8–132mm while the 35mm-equivalent range is from 24–360mm. This lens comes with 13 elements arranged in 11 groups with 5 aspherical and 3 ED elements to correct spherical as well as chromatic aberrations. The 49-area contrast-detection focusing system and the intelligent Depth from Defocus technology ensure the focus stays locked on the subject in the frame. Use the post focus feature to shift a particular focus point throughout the zoom range so that you can choose a specific focus range from the provided ones. The mechanical and electronic shutters have a maximum speed of 1/2000th and 1/16000th of a second respectively.

Sensor and Screen

The camera works on a 20.1MP high-sensitivity MOS sensor that recognizes color accurately to produce vibrant images. You can use the 3.0-inch 1240K-dot touchscreen LCD for composing the shot. It benefits live view shooting, image playback, and menu navigation. Alternatively, you can choose the Live View Finder for eye-level image monitoring. It provides a 2330K-dot resolution and 100% screen coverage.

Image and Video

The Lumix DC-ZS200 takes 20 MP still shots with a maximum resolution of 5472×3648 dpi. Along with JPEG images, you can also capture RAW photos and process them in-camera. The camera can shot 4K videos at 30 fps. You can choose the 24 fps option for giving a cinema feel to the video. The camera also has Full HD video recording at 60 fps. You can take continuous shots in 4K at 30 fps by using one of three modes, namely burst, pre-burst, and burst (S/S). The Venus engine image processor supports both HD video recording and continuous shooting by boosting the camera's processing speed. Your handheld footage becomes smooth as you enable the 5-axis hybrid optical image stabilizer. This digital camera includes up to 22 shooting modes.

Other Features

The camera has a built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for transferring images to smartphones and tablets. With the 4K Photo Auto Marking, you can skip directly to the part where there is a motion on the subject's face. Use the pop-up flash to capture images in low light. A microphone is integrated into the camera, which records audio in stereo channels. The camera supports SD to SDXC memory cards. The camera is powered by a DMW-BLG10 Li-ion battery.

Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
