With its amazing long-zoom capabilities and outstanding ergonomics, the Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80 Digital Camera is a practical gadget for amateur and experienced photographers alike. It features an 18.1 MP 1/2.3-inch high-sensitivity MOS sensor, which can brilliantly shoot high-quality imagery. The inbuilt Lumix DC Vario 60x zoom lens comes with the POWER Optical Image Stabilization technology for reducing camera shakes, thereby facilitating sharper, hassle-free handheld shooting of photos and 4K UHD videos, even at greater zoom magnifications. The three 4K photo modes come in handy for a variety of shooting scenarios. Use the Depth-from-Defocus AF technology for focusing on your subjects automatically with immense precision.

Optics and Focus

The camera’s inbuilt Lumix DC Vario 60x zoom lens, which comes with a focal length of 20–1200 mm and an aperture of f/2.8-5.9, is equipped with the POWER Optical Image Stabilization technology for reducing camera shakes. This is essential for handheld 4K UHD video shoots and capturing of high-resolution images with immense sharpness, even at higher zoom magnifications. The Depth-from-Defocus AF technology is useful for focusing on your subjects automatically in a precise manner. The electronic shutter speed ranges from one second to 16,000th of a second, while the extended ISO ranges from 80 to 6,400. The Post Focus function enables you to capture imagery in the form of a 4K MP4 file at 30 fps, and shifts the specific focus point throughout the burst-shooting process so that you can choose from a variety of focusing ranges.

Sensor and Screen

The Lumix DC-FZ80 digital camera from Panasonic is equipped with an 18.1 MP 1/2.3-inch high-sensitivity MOS sensor that lets you shoot high-quality stills and footage with astounding performance. The 3-inch rear LCD touchscreen comes with a 1,040,000-dot resolution for viewing your captured content and browsing menus with stunning sharpness and clarity. The 1.166 million-dot electronic viewfinder comes in handy while shooting under the sunlight, where it becomes difficult to view the screen. The viewfinder and screen offer a total coverage of 100% each.

Image and Video

Apart from capturing JPEG and RAW images at a resolution of up to 4896x3672 pixels, the Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80 records 4K UHD footage at a 3840x2160-pixel resolution in the MP4 format at 30 fps. This camera comes with three 4K photo modes, viz. 4K Burst (S/S), 4K Pre-Burst, and 4K Burst. The 4K Burst (S/S) photo mode enables you to playback a video and use the shutter button to mark and save a chosen frame as a standalone 8 MP image. The 4K Pre-Burst mode is useful when you are unsure of when you may need to capture a critical moment. Once set on this mode, the camera captures 8 MP images at 30 fps, once before pressing the shutter button and once after, thereby offering you 60 frames to choose from. Lastly, the standard 4K Burst mode enables you to capture 8 MP burst shots at 30 fps for up to 15 minutes.

Other Features

The integrated WiFi facility in the Lumix DC-FZ80 enables you to transfer your captured content to a wide range of devices, through the Panasonic Image app, which can be easily downloaded. Unleash your creativity on your pictures by using the camera’s preset Create Control and Still Image Scene Guide modes. This camera runs on an 895 mAh rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery pack.

Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
