"Witness" - Behind the Lenses of Photojournalism

Tonight (November 5th, 2012) marks the beginning of four part HBO documentary on contemporary war photographers. When we think of photojournalism, some of the most powerful images come from documenting war-torn landscapes, acts of violence, and pain. It's not the most light-hearted of topics, but hearing the story behind these important shots can be just as moving. "Witness" takes the viewer behind the startling vantage of brave photojournalists who risk their lives to provide images that can often be more effective than words. The first in the series, "Witness: Juarez", takes us closer to home with the ongoing battle between drug lords and war enforcement. What might seem like an unsettling episode of Breaking Bad is the unfortunate state of affairs right on our boarders. The series will also explore photographers who have endured the chaos in Libya, Sudan and Rio. Witness is intended for mature audiences and will air Monday on HBO at 9PM Eastern/Pacific, 8PM Central Time.
