Ricoh Imaging recently announced the release of Pentax Q-S1, the newest member of the Pentax Q family of interchangeable-lens digital cameras in compact sizes. The Pentax Q-S1 is being touted as the lightest and smallest ever digital camera with interchangeable lenses. The camera has a petite and ultra-stylish body with a refined look and color choices based on the latest market trends. The new Pentax Q-S1 features the Smart Affect mode to allow users to creatively enhance photographs. At first glance, the Q-S1 is best for those who want a stylish little camera that is as easy to carry as a compact camera, and has the advantage of interchangeable lenses.
The body is lightweight and modish, clearly designed with the style-conscious people in mind. It has a smooth front sheet made of synthetic-leather and superior quality metallic parts that make the camera durable. The camera features a 12.4 MP backside illumination CMOS image sensor that delivers images of impressive and high quality. The camera facilitates high-sensitivity shooting with the top sensitivity of ISO 12,800, making it good for shooting in low-light conditions as well. Its sensor-shift-type SR system helps reduce camera shake in shots, which is especially useful for low-light shooting when you don’t want to reduce the shutter speed to avoid blurred images due to subject movement and camera shake. To further promote creativity and operability, a dial on the camera can be controlled to produce creative add-ons, such as the Smart Effect, Digital Filters to apply filters, or the bokeh control feature. The Pentax Q-S1 will be available for purchase starting this August, and has a color-to-order service to let buyers personalize their camera and reflect their own style. Besides these four combinations, there are 36 additional combinations for the body and grip that are available through Ricoh’s unique color-to-order service. Some of the fashion-forward colors include charcoal black, khaki green, canary yellow, champagne, and carmine red. Also available are five color options—grainy black, champagne gold, pure white, gunmetal, and bright silver—to customize the Pentax-01 Standard Prime lens for each customer’s desired color of choice. They have really pushed the envelope this time to allow users to make the imaging system as catchy and stylish as they want it to be by choosing custom colors.
The Pentax Q-S1 is expected to be priced around $499.95 and will hit the markets this August.
