T-Mobile Announces Support for iOS8 WiFi Calling Feature

Apple is expected to introduce free calling over WiFi, a feature confirmed by T-Mobile.

This was announced by T-mobile after WWDC 2014 keynote. Apple is expected to release its latest iPhone later this year and T-mobile confirmed that it will support WiFi calling feature. T-mobile was the first US telecom service provider to introduce WiFi calling for some of the Windows and Android devices in 2007. According to T-mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, Mike Sievert, after the debut of iOS8, over 90% of T-Mobile’s smartphone will support this feature.

Other incentives of this feature include allowing the users to connect and make free calls to each other over WiFi. This means that the users can expect an enhanced audio quality and better battery quality. This will help the cellular networks with a reduction in the load, which might address bandwidth issues in congested areas.

Its interesting to note that Apple summed up all the iOS8 features, including WiFi calling in a single slide. They spent very little time to explain or focus on these features during the keynote.
