The sky opened up and trumpets from the heavens sounded. Crowds formed outside St. Peter's Square, mouths agape ready to witness something truly holy...The mythical NIKKOR 1200-1700mm f/5.6-8 lens would reclaim the throne as Ridiculous Lens of the Day.
I mentioned this lens a while back and it seems to have resurrected for this special occasion. A photographer by the name of Dylan Martinez was seen with the 1200-1700, hoping to capture a glimpse of the newly announced Pope. Considering it's practically a telescope with a D4 attached, I think it'll do the job. Not the most hefty of the lenses we've seen here, but the 35lbs lens certainly reaches divine distances. Minimum focusing distance is 32ft! At f8 the lens isn't very fast...luckily the new pope probably won't be doing aerial backflips to celebrate his new title.
A lens this expensive would need its own Pope-mobile in my neighborhood.
