CES has proven to be a point and shoot refresher and Olympus has a few entries to add to the growing list.
The Stylus SH-50 iHS shares looks from the pen line and even takes from some of the features from the popular OMD-EM5. This tiny point and shoot seems promising with 5-Axis image stabilization for video (3 axis for stills) and touch screen LCD like it's more expensive siblings. Other features include a 16MP sensor, 24x zoom lens (25-600mm equivalent), and 1080i60 video. Expect to see the SH-50 pop up around March for around $300.
Catering to the superzoom crowd are the SZ-16 iHS and SZ-15: Both offering 24x zoom (25-600mm Equivalent). The $230 SZ-16 iHS will offer a 16MP CMOS sensor, TruePic V image processor for high speed shooting and 1080p video. The slightly cheaper SZ-15 will run for $200 and will still have a 16MP sensor, but CCD sensor and TruePic III+ processor meaning only 720p video
The new TG-830 iHS and TG-630iHS offer a little more ruggedness to their Tough camera line. The TG-830 is waterproof up to 33 feet with a 12MP CMOS sensor, 5x f/2.0 lens (28 – 140 mm equivalent) and GPS tagging. The TG-630 is geared as an entry level camera at $200 and is only waterproof up to 13 feet. Both are expected to ship in March.
For those who find themselves in perilous environments or just the extremely clumsy Olympus is offering something even more trough than the previous two: The Stylus Tough TG-2 iHS. It's waterproof up to 50 feet, has a 12MP CMOS sensor, 4x zoom F2.0 lens (25-100mm equivalent), 3" rear LCD screen, 1080p video and built-in GPS. The brute of a camera will cost you $380 and should be available in March.
