Nikon Mirrorless System Expected Tomorrow

According to Nikonrumors.com, Nikon is expected to reveal its venture into the world of Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Cameras (MILCs) tomorrow night (EST).  This isn't mere speculation or just wishful thinking.  There are a number of confirmed Nikon events tomorrow around the globe and when Peter from Nikonrumors says something is going to happen, he is usually dead-on.  Oh and Nikon has put up this terribly suggestive and awkwardly named site to get us excited about the launch.  Check out iamcomings.com for Nikon's countdown timer leasing up to the release. So why haven't I been talking about this more over the past year?  Well for me it got a little boring to speculate on things that don't exist and based on all of the information that was leaked, Nikon's MILC system seems rather dry and underwhelming.  It is expected to use a sensor with a 2.5 or 2.7x crop factor.  Wait really?  So after all the hype and hoopla over the Nikon Mirrorless solution possibly being an APS or FX retro-styled rangefinder like the Fuji X100, we end up with a toy.  A poll on Nikonrumors suggested that less than 9% of 30,000 Rabid Nikonians had plans to purchase the new mirrorless system.  For these Nikonians it has been a rather disappointing summer/fall season.  The highly anticipated D4/D400/D800 cameras never surfaced as they were expected to and while the 40mm f/2.8G DX Micro lens looks to be very sharp, it isn't a lens people are lining up for.  I didn't want to talk about this too much, but we will have the official press releases and product images when they are given to us by Nikon.  The prototype names of the models are V-1 and J1.  The specs for these cameras can be found here.
