Shipments of Nikon's new full-frame "enthusiast" DSLR have been making their way to stores a lot faster than the D800 did after its announcement. We actually just received our first shipment...and they've probably already been spoken for as I'm typing this out. Nevertheless if you've been looking to get your foot in the door with full-frame, it seems like a convenient time to do so. I'll be doing a full write-up on it so stay tuned!
Also just in time for its release, Nikon has released a patch for Camera Control Pro 2 which will upgrade versions 2.8.0 - 2.11.1, to 2.12.0. It mainly adds support for the D600 as well as some minor tweaks. Unfortunately this removes support for older models, so if you're still shooting with older models and utilize the program, maybe you should hold off.
Modifications that apply to both the Windows and Macintosh versions
•Support for the D600 has been added.
•The D2X, D2XS, D2H, D2HS, D200, D100, D80, D70, D70S, D50, D40X, and D40 are no longer supported.
Additional modifications to the Windows version
•Reverse indicators options have been added to the General tab in the Options dialog (Tools menu>Options...), allowing users to reverse indicator display.
Additional modifications to the Macintosh version
•PowerPC models are no longer supported.
•Reverse indicators options have been added to the General tab in the Preferences dialog (Camera Control Pro 2 menu>Preferences...), allowing users to reverse indicator display.
•When the computer entered sleep mode with a camera connected and Camera Control Pro 2 running, camera connection was sometimes not recognized when the computer recovered from sleep mode. This issue has been resolved.
