Nikkor 300mm f/4E PF ED VR: World’s lightest 300mm lens

Nikon has got the attention of a lot of photographers with the announcement of Nikon D5500, on which we did a feature on our blog last week. Aside from the camera, Nikon also announced a new Nikkor 300mm f4/Elens, and by the looks of it, it is going to thrill the shutterbugs even more. The new Nikkor 300mm f/4E PF ED VR will probably change the way photographers approach a shoot. Weighing just 755g and of considerably shorter length than its predecessor, Nikon claims that it is the lightest 300mm full frame AF lens in the world. How did Nikon achieve this? According to the report published by Nikon, what makes this a prime Nikon lens is a Fresnel lens element that has been used for the first time, and it hit home in the first blush. Not only does it improve the sharpness and clarity of the shots, but also removes chromatic aberration, ghosting and flares. What’s more, it is not designed to suit a specialist. Everyone can use it to same splendid effect. Coming to detailed specifications of the lens, the Fresnel element is coupled with an extra low dispersion glass element and Nano crystal coat to lend your images an amazing clarity and precision. This is complemented by a really quiet and fast autofocussing feature called Silent Wave Motor (SWM) requiring little to no manual overriding. Also, the 300mm lens comes with fluorine coating on the exposed side to drive off dirt and grease and allow easy cleaning. It goes without saying that with this lens Nikon tries to target a serious photographer. All the other specs are testimony to that. Equipped with a fast f/4 maximum aperture and rounded nine-blade diaphragm, photographers can produce a dazzling Bokeh effect. A highly efficient electromagnetic diaphragm ensures consistent exposure at high frame rates. To make matters easy and hassle-free for photographers, the lens is compatible with almost every Nikon teleconverter. Nikon has also introduced a nice Vibration reduction feature to stabilize the system at high shutter speeds. So, it aids in capturing fast action and sharply moving subjects. Light is no problem. You can do great shoots even in low light. This feature will particularly appeal to a sports photographer, and if you aren’t happy with the handheld stabilizationfeature, the tripod is always there. Nikkor 300mm f/4E PF ED VR belongs to the ranks of great full frame camera lenses and we are sure it will fetch Nikon a legion of fans.
