Google Glass Already Banned

"NOPE." says Seattle bar

Google Glass isn't even out yet, but the thought of breached privacy is already on the minds of those who don't necessarily want to be featured in someone's Google Life. The Five Point Cafe, a shady dive bar in Seattle has already banned the glasses in an effort to protect privacy of their patrons. Here's what the owner had to say on facebook:

"For the record, The 5 Point is the first Seattle business to ban in advance Google Glasses. And @#$ kickings will be encouraged for violators."

Although it's most likely a PR stunt, the cafe might be slamming the "first!!" comment on more potential bans. The entire state of West Virginia recently introduced a bill that would effectively ban the use of a "wearable computer with a head-mounted display" while driving. They're seeing it in the same distracting light as texting, whereas others argue it's no different than a heads up display in a fighter pilot's helmet. If the bill gets passed, Google Glassers could be faced with hundreds of dollars in fines. Are we overreacting with concerns of technology endangering both our privacy and general safety or is there merit to fearing Google Glass?

Perhaps they'll want to expand these bans to immanent head mounted copycats...it looks like Sony is brewing up their own brand of goofy looking tech glasses. This time it has TWO cameras. Eat that Google. Considering all the hype around wearable tech, this probably won't be the only look-alike. Apple and Samsung are just itching to unveil their own version sometime soon. Let the lawsuits commence!
