Welcome to Jolly ol' London, now brought to you in jolly ol' colour. This video was filmed around 1927 by a filmmaker named Claude Frisse-Green who was an innovator of an early additive coloring process called "biocolour". Through filters and painstaking retouching of each and every frame, the film gave the illusion of color, albeit something close to natural. The downside to this early process produced a noticeable flickering along with color fringing, but hey, it was the late 20's give them a break... To help remedy this, they would speed up the frame rate.
As you can see, the capital of England has come a long way from quaint little city it used to be. Double-Decker buses were more like two tramcars stacked on top of each other and everyone was dressed so daintily. Despite all the physical changes in London, "Father Thames" still hasn't lost its charm. Anyone else have a hankering for a nice basket of fish and chips right now.
