Chris Faust is an old school photographer that uses his Fuji 617 to capture panoramas of landscapes at night. He knows the exposure through many years of experience and then processes and prints in his own darkroom. Sure, there are many people who are still working with film, but there's also his story as to why he's making photographs. Much of his work has to do with exploring the decisive moment of a culture's landscape, how it's used and what it becomes over time. His sweeping landscapes recall Ansel Adams in an unfamiliar setting and Faust even uses the same developing method that Adams created to compensate for the dark shadows. These nightscapes are made to hopefully recreate the sensation of discovery, hopefully triggering the viewers creative memory...Without trying to explain the creative process, the images themselves are really astounding.
