At a glance this dramatic image of a lighting cracking over a steady creak looks like a lucky shot...upon further speculation you might notice some details that look a little...off. That's because these are not real places. They're sets! Small scale creations made entirely out of household materials. I guess if you had to, you could call them Dioramas, but they seem so masterfully crafted that relating it to a school project sounds insulting. The artist behind the curtain is Matthew Albanese, a North New Jersey native who first specialized in table top photography and eventually honed his skills toward a longtime passion of making realistic miniatures. Part of the magic is wondering how he created all of these models, fortunately for the curious (like myself) Albanese posts pictures of himself in the process of building his sets with a few hints as to what they're made of.
