Will an 86mm-to-82mm step-down ring vignette on a Meike 8mm cine lens?

I’m considering the Meike 8mm Cine Lens in Micro Four Thirds mount for a BMPCC 4K. The lens has an 86mm filter thread, but my ND and Pro-Mist filters are 82mm. If I use an 86mm-to-82mm step-down ring, should I expect noticeable vignetting, or possibly none at all?

I know that several of the Meike lenses for 4/3 actually cover APS, so it's quite possible there will be no vignetting. Mechanical vignetting is very dependent on the aperture used... if there is vignetting I would suspect it will probably be eliminated by f/5.6.
But IDK anyone who has tried the 8mm on APS or w/ 82mm filters.

Possibly—but there’s no reliable way to know without testing your exact setup. On a very wide lens like an 8mm, reducing the front opening with a step-down ring can cause mechanical vignetting, especially at wider apertures. Some wide-angle lenses also have natural vignetting already, so adding a smaller filter may make it more obvious.
That said, some Meike lenses in this system reportedly cover more than Micro Four Thirds, so it’s possible the 82mm filter won’t vignette noticeably on your BMPCC 4K. If there is vignetting, stopping down may reduce or eliminate it.
Bottom line: an 86mm-to-82mm step-down ring on an 8mm lens is risky for vignetting, but it may still be acceptable depending on aperture and your tolerance. The only dependable answer is to try the ring and filter combination on the lens and check the corners in real footage or stills.
