On an X-370, this usually points to a film-loading or transport issue rather than the shutter itself. If the camera fires with no film installed, the shutter mechanism can operate. When film is loaded, resistance from the film path, take-up spool, rewind fork, or back-door pressure path can reveal a problem.

Check that the film leader is properly inserted in the take-up spool, the sprocket holes are engaged with the sprockets, and the rewind knob turns as you advance—showing the film is actually moving. Make sure the film is laid flat and the back closes normally. If the advance lever becomes unusually tight or stops early, don’t force it.

Also check the battery, since the X-370 is electronically controlled and generally needs battery power to release the shutter. A weak battery may seem fine until the film transport adds load.

If loading is correct and a fresh battery doesn’t help, the camera likely needs service for a transport, interlock, or shutter-release fault.
