Why is my Tamron SP 90mm Macro only focusing to about 10 ft?

I'm using a Tamron SP 90mm Macro on a Canon AE-1 Program. It used to focus normally, but now it won't focus beyond roughly 10 feet. As far as I know, it hasn't been dropped. Since this is a school-owned lens, I'm wondering whether this is something simple I can check myself before reporting it for repair.

There's a focus limiting switch - so that when you're doing macro work, it won't hunt through the whole range. Look over the lens and find the switch and turn it off.

Before assuming it needs repair, check whether the lens’s focus limiter switch has been engaged. Many macro lenses, including the Tamron SP 90mm Macro, have a limiter that restricts the focus range so the lens doesn’t travel through the full distance range during close-up work. If that switch is set to the macro/limited range, the lens may seem “stuck” and won’t focus on distant subjects. Inspect the barrel for a focus limit switch and set it to the full-focus range. Since the lens belongs to your school, avoid disassembly or self-repair beyond checking that external switch.
