My original Fujifilm X100 is showing a strange blue or rainbow-colored glare around artificial lights. I only recently noticed it, and I don’t see the same effect with my X-T4. Is this likely caused by the lens, and is there anything I can do to fix it?

It looks like the lens is greasy. Probably some condensation on the lens.

If it is condensation, it could be on the interior of the lens. See if there is a lot of humidity, or if your camera has moved from cold to hot or vice versa.

One way to fix condensation is to leave the camera in a warm dry place for a couple of hours. Do not leave it under direct sunlight.

This kind of blue/rainbow flare is often caused by a greasy front element or by condensation/humidity affecting the lens. If the camera recently moved between cold and warm environments, moisture may have formed on or inside the lens, which can scatter light from lamps and create colored glare.

What to try:

  • Carefully inspect and clean the front lens surface.
  • If you suspect condensation, leave the camera in a warm, dry place for a few hours.
  • Avoid direct sunlight while drying it out.

If the moisture is internal, it may take longer to clear, and if it doesn’t improve, the camera may need professional service. Since your other camera doesn’t show the same effect, the issue is likely specific to the X100 rather than the lighting itself.
