Why does my Fujifilm FinePix S1800 seem to have more shutter lag in the EVF than on the LCD?

On my Fujifilm FinePix S1800, shooting with the electronic viewfinder feels much slower than shooting with the rear LCD. In EVF mode the delay seems to be close to half a second, while in LCD mode it feels more like 0.15 seconds. Assuming the camera settings, subject, and exposure conditions are otherwise the same, what could cause this difference? Is this true shutter lag, or could the EVF itself be introducing perceived delay?

As has been addressed in a comment to your question, it could do with the amount of memory the camera has, and how much processing it needs to do. If all other parameters are equal (settings, subject, exposure), then I have no idea. The EVF has less pixels than the LCD, so it should process quicker, which isn't your case.
The only other thing I can suggest, is asking whether you're encounter actual shutter lag, or just EVF refresh rate lag?

What you may be seeing is not true shutter lag, but display lag from the EVF.
If the camera settings and shooting conditions are the same, there is no obvious reason the actual shutter response should become dramatically slower just because you switch from the rear LCD to the EVF. In theory, the EVF may even require less display processing because it often has lower resolution than the LCD.
That points to the more likely explanation: the EVF refresh/update delay can make the camera feel slower, even if the shutter is firing at about the same time. In other words, the image you see in the EVF may be slightly behind real time, so your timing feels late.
A secondary possibility is camera memory/processing limits, but based on the information given, EVF display lag is the stronger explanation.
To test it, compare the timing by listening for the shutter or recording the camera externally, rather than judging only by what you see in the EVF.
